7" Colima Obsidian Bi-pointed Knife
Pre-Columbian, Colima, Mexico, ca. 300 BC to 300 AD. Completely intact and made of jet black glossy Obsidian no doubt from the famed Colima volcano. Also has a fine dusting of calcium carbonate deposites on its surface consistent with having been found in a desert enviornment. It is still quite sharp and there are large broad distinctive flaking scars over the entirety of both blade faces. Displays beautifully as a ‘Centerpiece’ example and really fills up a frame. Ex- Dr. David Harner Collection. Former director at the Gilcrease Museum along with Gregory Perino.
